When I was in college I tried to live by the low and no fat diet that was popular at the time. I ate a lot of boxed meals and processed food and ended up eating a high sugar and low protein diet as a result. In hindsight, this was a bad idea, but I am grateful for that time because it was the first time that I actually tried to do something about my health, even if it wasn’t helping. It sparked in me an interest in taking care of my body and mind. Over the years I realized that I have a ‘self-help’ sort of personality. I’m willing to try lots of things as long as they are reasonable to help myself have a healthier and happier family. As a newlywed, I gradually transitioned from the boxed meals to learning how to cook partially from scratch to now cooking almost exclusively from scratch. I’ve also gone from exercising very little to making it a priority in my day. I have read many books, experimented with new approaches to health, and tried new products–all to up my game with my health. I am far from consistent, but I have learned a lot and love to share my successes and failures with others.
